I just don't know what year or who the groom may be. I am taking applications for the role of groom. If anyone is interested or knows someone, please email me their resume. (-:

Most of the hard part is done...the planning. April 1st, as I've stated above, will be the day!
All attendees will be strongly recommended to wear either Victorian garb or any Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass costumes...any odd looking beasts that should have been in the books are perfectly acceptable as well. I haven't decided who we (me and the hubby) will be, but of course those costumes will be out of bounds...I'm thinking either the red or white king and queen....

The cake may look something like this:
amadteaparty.tribe.net/photos...e1e01d0
and the grooms cake will be a giant mushroom.

The reception will be first and it will start in the afternoon with tea of course. There will be plastic flamingo croquette with plush hedge hogs as balls, a humpty dumpty pinata, chess & card tables, and other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

Everyone will be asked to stand during the reception and give a toast or recite a poem...either of which can be about anything at all from bugs to cupcakes to dirty limmericks to me (of course). This will hopefully be done as randomly and as chaotically as possible.

OFBL willing, Will Farrell will perform the ceremony and Metallica will be the band. If the collards just aren't in the pot for it, then my friend Richard will read us our rites and possibly a Celtic Band will perform.

Once I settle on a year and a guy, I will let you know...as you are all invited!

SORRY TO ANYONE WHO'S READ THIS BEFORE....I'm posting it everywhere! (-:

Although I am decidedly NOT a Hufflepuff (I know, hiss, boo) I just had to join your tribe when I saw that the majority of your topics are about food. I love talking about food, and am constantly working on becoming a better cook. I plan on making buttloads of cookies this holiday as I am too poor to give anything else. So I have a couple books of christmas cookies, but am always looking for other ideas to go with them. I want to have a good variety. I have a recipe for mini pecan pies that may be amazing, of course sugar cookies and peanut butter balls and such, but I was wondering if you wise folks had any special recipes up your sleeve that you might share? I'm looking mainly for stand-alone desserts (no cakes, which have to be sliced) though bar cookies (like blondies etc.) are great. Thanks!!!

I've had this one cookbook, Tasty Holiday Gifts forever and have kept it around mainly because of this recipe which I kept telling myself that one day I would make it.
Well, I finally got a hold of some rosewater and made the tea cakes today, and boy, oh boy are they good! Not too sweet, and perfect for High Tea, or any Hobbits that happen to drop by...also delicious with fresh berries on the side

Rose Petal Tea Cakes

CAKES
1/2 c butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 c granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c sour cream
2 TBS milk
1 TBS rose flower water(available at gourmet stores or better health food stores)
1 2/3 c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans
Pink paste food coloring(optional)(I omitted the coloring myself)

FROSTING
1c whipping cream
1 pkg (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/4 c granulated sugar
1 TBS rose flower water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream butter, cream cheese, and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, sour cream, milk and rose flower water; stir until smooth. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, stirring until smooth. Stir in pecans. If desired, tint batter light pink. Pour into a greaded and floured shortcake pan, filling each tin 2/3 of the way full (I used a muffin pan with cupcake papers). Bake 15-20 minutes, using a toothpick to test for doneness. Cool in pan 10 minutes.

For frosting, place a medium bowl and beaters from an electric mixer in freezer until well chilled(I skipped this step and the frosting turned out fine). In chilled bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form; refrigerate. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and rose flower water until fluffy. Gradually add whipped cream to cream cheese mixture; beat until smooth and stiff peaks form. frost tops of cakes. To decorate, arrande rose petals and silk leaves on tops of cakes. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
It also included instructions for making sugared rose petals....dip clean, pesticide free rose petals in egg whites then sprinkle generously with sugar. Transfer to wapapered covered rolling pin to hold shape. Allow to dry at room temperature 24 hours or until hardened.

So, its almost time for pet pictures at Fireplug! Its still a couple of months away, but I've started planning out the pictures and am almost giddy! I'm a cheeseball...I know. Here is what I've subjected my pups to in the past. (You'll notice that every year I acquire a new one.)

Year one:
http://people.tribe.net/sproutsspecialbrownies/photos/350a6a31-d49f-464a-bcc7-c45c4b89aef8

http://people.tribe.net/sproutsspecialbrownies/photos/4015aeb4-883e-4170-965b-29d831c34863

Year three:
http://people.tribe.net/sproutsspecialbrownies/photos/c48787cc-f92c-4db1-ad48-7695fb8aa76f

This year I have Zack too so once again, I'll HAVE to get them done.

Today I thought of a great idea! they could all be in a bathtub. They could all have little showercaps on and Becky has a bath robe! That would just be too cute to be believed! That one is going to happen for sure! I'm just not sure if they should all have bath robes...like the PJ's last year.

I'll probably do a few different things.

I've also thought about Halloween costumes. Shorty would be a pimp (I've been meaning to get him a pimp costume for years...not so much for Halloween, but for ever day use) and Zack would be a pirate or a prisoner...maybe. Can't really think of anything for the girls. Mad Eye would be a pig...I have a pig costume. Not really sure about it. It may get too convoluted with so many different costumes.

Then I want one of us all together. Last year I had Shorty and Becky in sweaters, Zinka beside me, and Mad eye on my head. Need to think of something cute.

Yes, I do realize that this is animal cruelty. That people should get arested for this, but I just can't stop. My animals are sooooooooooooo frigin' cute!

So, in order not to make this all about how wonderful my pups are, post a link to the cutest picture(s) of your animals! Or in Amy's case...children. (-:

As if that kept her human
...she knew she was dead.
She remembered that she had always wanted to be able to breath underwater.
So why not try now?
Still she held her breath.
As she felt her tendons give way, a numbness set in the rest of her body.
Down her throat.

That means going to a Clinic. My Clinic of necessity is one in the barrio where the nurses speak spanish and the doctors speak Korean. They do a fine job generally...it's just that it's 30 minutes away and takes two hours in the waitroom to see a doctor and then another hour in the back...and things get lost in translation. But it is affordable...and they generally get it right. Well, this time I thought I'd splurge and go to one close by. Well, I was there for two hours...slipping in and out of clarity and left with a diagnoses of Stomache Flu. I DON'T HAVE STOMACHE FLU. Trust me...I'd know. But atleast my bloodwork was normal...or as the doctor says as he's bobbing his head around and saying ummmmmmm while staring at the sheet, "...and your bloodwork's, well........normal." I was to out of it to say anything like...what the fuck does that mean, jackass! Then he told me to only eat liquids for 24 hours. Then eat crackers.

I either was too annoyed with a lack of anything going on or there was too much going on that I couldn't keep up...or realized I really wasn't interested in the poeple's opinion on that tribe. So much on the tribes is just ignorant ego driven dribble. There are alot of things I'm interest in...would love to learn more...but tribe just ain't the way to go about it. The only ones I really enjoy peoples opinions on are the HP ones. I had decided that 18 tribes was my limit...shortly after the change of scenery on the homepages. So when another HP tribe opened up that I wanted to join, I would unjoin another. Why am I telling you this? I have no idea. But I would like to broaded my tribes again...so does anyone belong to any nifty tribes that aren't a lot of hot air or dead?? Pretty much anything will do. (-:

Today, a kid got kidnapped from his yard in Dallas. He had wandered out by the curb and a sickfuck lured him into his car with idea that he would buy the kid candy. Well, a nieghbor saw it, ran over to his house and told the parents. The parents just happened to be having a get together, so the house emptied and everyone jumped into their cars. They caught up to the sickfuck, rammed his car and then corner his car. They apparently beat the everliving piss out of him. One cop that was relating the story to a newscrew said he couldn't say what happened after everyone got out of the cars...but that (with a very large smirk) "we definately want to talk to the guy...what ever shape he is in."

A classroom or just friends reading over the same crap. Maybe its because I'm flaky and need someone to bouce things off of...or maybe I just need to be better than atleast one other person at figuring something out? I'm do love getting higher grades than others, which is why this GH tribe is killing me right now! (-: But I'm pretty sure I just think better when I can ask a ton of "OK, but..." and "what if..." questions. Things get screwy and turned around in my noggin and its too hard to sort them out alone.

So, that being said, does anyone have any thoughts on Distant Learning? I'd like to get a "Hey, Look at Me! I'm Very Useful" certificate (others may call it a Bachlors Degree), but don't have the time or money to go to college. I'm a smart enough cookie, but in looking for a new job I've realized (once again) that I got bubkis to offer. I'd really like to have a Master Herbologist Degree which I've found a couple sites online that offer it. But I don't know the shiestiness of them. I can totally see myself as an apothecary. That's my new goal. Besides I'd dig telling people I was a master herbologist and apothecary! And Sprout, may her fingers be always dirty, would be so happy! haha. Granted Pharmacy Tech would probably pay more but wheres the fun in that?

So, to sum up...how do you feel about distance learning and/or do you know any legitament schools of herbs and/or how do you learn best? Thank you and may the OFBL smile upon you.
I got the one where you draw the lightning bolt with the pen.

I erased the other page to reveil that you need a feather, potion, spider and leaves for something. I found the leaves and potion this time...and may possibly have found the feather and spider some other time that I don't remember. What are they for and how do you use them when it is time to use them?

On the trophy page:
I think I opened the scroll some other time, but how do you know if you did?
ALso, what the hell is that little red box? I want it opened right now!
ALSo, I got the medalion, but there is one missing on the top shelf...are we supposed to find it somewhere?

On the bookshelf:
I found the key to open the box.
I opened the rune book that someone says may be a clue to one of the numbers to dial on the phone...but is that true?

In the rubbish bin: (I love the word Rubbish)
I broke the pen to reveil that I need needles, marble, and eggshells for something...I know I've found the eggshells, but the marble and the needles?
ALso, when you unscramble the words correctly, does anything happen? Don't tell me what the phrase is yet...I'm still trying! But hints are OK! hehe
The tea? Do you just shake it around and try to see a grim?

The phone:
Got Majic
Got Peeves - thanks to the uber thread
Supposedly the other number is on the bullentine board? or is it the rune book?

Something else I've realized (that you guys who aren't in the GH can possibly appreciate) is how common place I think somethings should be. There ought to be a caldron store. There ought to be a wand store. There ought to be a quidditch store. It really did amaze me that Wal-mart carried none of these things. It made me both angry and sad. And also, there ought to be more people with pink, purple and green hair. It should be common place. Damn it all!

I've been going through my history of art books looking for possible paintings. I'll post some eventually. One was this medieval townscape in faded yellows and browns. It looks perfect! I also found a picture of Stevie S as a Wizard! It was painted in the Rennaissance by??? and has a Hufflepuff hat and everything! I'll post it tomorrow. Sorry to keep you waiting, but it will be worth it! Spitting image of him! Its crazy! I also found a Klimnt and a Dali that would go too. And a couple of others.

You know what's funny. Yellow (and orange) are my least favorite colors. If I had to pick a house based solely on color scheme, I would be a Ravenclaw. In fact my bedroom is blue and white. My second choice would be Slytheryn as I love green. If there were a purple house that would totally win me over. Purple is my Mostest favoritest color ever...and surprisingly (to me) I don't own many purple things. Tis true. Tis sad.

I just watched Children of Dune yesterday. I really like the Sci-Fi channel version of Dune, too. I still love Lynch's...mostly for Sting and sentimental reasons...but I think the new one is my favorite. I really like the actors...especially the one who plays Paul. Although the old Duncan was by far prettier...and as I've insinuated above Stingadingding ain't so bad. (-: I need to buy a copy of Lynch's directors cut version so I can see what all was left out, but I still think the new one is pretty groovy. I don't like the tank spice monsters (I can't remember what they are called. I know it is simple, but so is my mind) in the new one. They look way to animated. In the old one they are pretty groddy and that's cool.

Anyone know if Godemperor is in the works? I haven't made it through the book yet. It kind of sickens me...the thought of someone thinking they are in total control of peoples thoughts and actions. I guess I just hang around to many people in real life who think this about themselves. (-:

So, any way, I'm going to start trainning as a Bene Gesserette. I just hope correct spelling isn't required.

So, the MM says that the devil and his evil angels are what give power to witches and cause them to do their dastardly deeds.i.e. making men's weewees disapear. (while I was confused for a while as to why a witch or anyone would feel the need to make a man's weewee disapear as it seems counterproductive...haha!...apparently it is punishment for him looking at the vitch next door. So there you go. What else could she do?) But as it is with God's will only that the devils are allowed to empower the witches to begin with, wouldn't it be against God to burn, float, lay rocks on top of, etc. what he himself...oops Himself...gave the go ahead to? Now, I was reading the MM to protect myself from Gracie...and I don't really trust Windi even 'though she removed her witch's mark oh so long ago in college...or did she just cast a glamore?...hummmmm, methinks me needs to read more of the MM and stop rereading the question of peni. But if it would be more against the Christian God to poke Gracie (who is enindated with God approve evil angels) with a burning stick that to let her go about in her heathen Wicca ways, how then can I not? Alas, I doubt that I am strong enough to resist.

Did we ever decide or find out which house Myrtle belonged to?

I was walking through a botanical garden the other day when the Finn pointed out a myrtle tree. So, I started to think that well if it was a tree, perhaps JK named her that and since Hufflepuffs are most associated with plants and such, Moaning Myrtle might then belong to Hufflepuff.

I have been looking up myrtle trees on the net. I found this.

"MYRTLE
There are many legends associated with the Myrtle tree and its origin.

According to ancient classic mythology a nymph called 'Myrsine' or 'Myrene' and the goddess 'Athena' or 'Pallas' raced together. It is said that Athena killed Myrene as she was angry. Her body is believed to have grown into a Myrtle tree and that possibly as a result of grief and guilt did ever love the tree.

The second legend tells of how 'Myrene', a priestess to 'Venus', was transformed into the tree. The reason for this was thought to be because she loved a young man and wished to marry him which was forbidden for a priestess.

The third legend tells of how 'Myrene' was killed by 'Venus' and transformed into a Myrtle tree. The reason seems to be that Myrene had offended her. Yet Venus ordered that the tree should always be evergreen and have a sweet aroma.

A fourth legend tells of how 'Venus' was on the 'Island of Cytheraea'. Ashamed of the fact that she was naked she would hide behind a Myrtle tree, and ever since has been associated with and sacred to Venus. Indeed she adopted it as her favourite tree. The tree has long been connected with lovers due to its this association as Venus is the Goddess of Love. The Myrtle tree was thought to inspire love and encourage it to linger.

Venus is often seen with leaves of the Myrtle about her. According to legend Venus came out of the sea with a Myrtle wreath upon her head.

Worshippers in ancient Greece would plant Myrtle trees around the temples. Although known to us as Venus the ancients worshipped her as 'Myrtilla'.

Thought to be a tree which brings good luck. To see one or more healthy Myrtle trees indicates that the owner of the land or family should be content, enjoying a happy home life. A wedding may follow soon after flowering according to traditional English (UK) belief. "

It is just titled "Verses by Emma Goodman". It must have been self-published because there is no publisher's info or date of publication anywhere. The only clue to it's age is the photo glued to the inside of the book. I am assuming it is Ms. Goodman herself and it looks as if it were taken in the late 30's, early 40's.
The poems are typical verses that were so popular at that time....very uplifting, and very Christian.
The book must have been made as a Christmas gift because of the first poem ....
As round the hearth stone you are meeting,
May naught this holy peace destroy.

The guiding star of Love doth shine,
With undimmed radiance now as then,
Each soul may dewll in Palestine,
Of "Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men."

* * *

As we gather round the fire-side,
Once again this happy Yule-tide,
May the Christ-idea, the royal guest,
His gift of love by all possessed,
Be magnified.

* * *

The Magi of old journed afar, led by a Star,
This bright Star of Love still shines from above,
Lighting the way, for the wise man today.

The discussion of favorite foods & veggies lead me to remember my all-time favorite ... the king, that salty tastes-not-found-in-nature wonder, -- VEG-ALL!

Relate your recipes!

This is called "How Shirley Made it Through College" My mom STILL makes this a lot, and I'm going to the store soon & picking up some cheese!

1 pkg Top Ramen, any flavor
1/2 can of Veg-All
Canister of Parmesaen cheese (not fresh-grated, the dry kind you find in the spaghetti aisle)

Boil water, adding flavor packet right away. When water boils, add noodles; cook 'til soft, usually about 5 minutes. Turn off heat but leave pan on the burner; add Veg-All, stir 'til veggies are warm (if you took the can out of the fridge, you may want to leave the heat on).

Strain noodles (I just strain it into the sink; my mom saves it to use as soup stock, but she never gets around to making soup an eventually has to throw it out anyway).

Put noodles in bowl, sprinkle on cheese. Stir, add more cheese; repeat to taste. The cheese will cling to the fork like glue; that's part of it's charm. The cheese doesn't melt like a sauce, it clumps. MMmmmm, clumps.

Eat!

Oh, and unless you have high blood pressure, do NOT get the "low sodium" Veg-all. Yuck. Remember, we're not just 98% water, we're 98% SALT water. Hooray sodium!

2. Lose 30 pounds of fat and gain 10 of muscle

I love X-mas because its a big excuse to buy people things. I could go way over board with the spending and finding nifty things for others. But I hate hate hate christmas music on the radio and in stores. One station started two weeks ago with it. ugh! Needless to say I don't go near that station on the dial. Also, people are stressed out and pissy. Who cares if you don't get the perfect gift now...sometimes it's better to find it two weeks after the 25th. If you are buying for someone who HAS to have THE gift now, give them cole. Except kids of course.

So, I know some/most of us are like pagany-wiccany-kind of people, but:

1.) what's your favorite ornament on your tree? Mine is this $1 father X-mas who has sat on top of my little tree for the past 5 years. He's dressed in gold and white. He actually stays out all year on a shelf.

2.) Favorite song? As I've said, I really don't like them, but I do love David Bowie and Bing Crosby's Drummer Boy.

3.) Are you sad when the solstice isn't mentioned in the ChrismaHanaKwanzakkah Season of festivities? Yup.

4.) Red lights, Blue lights, White lights, or mixed? I like the solid stings the best with blue being my favorite.

5.) Have you started shopping? Yup, a couple of weeks ago. Oh and, Gracie, I found better fabric for you! tehe!

6.) What is the one thing you hope to get, but its so outlandish that you won't? Someone just told me that most of the early Dr Who's have been destroyed, so my hope of owning the ENTIRE series has been squashed. So, it would have to land for my iguana sanctuary.

7.) WHat is the stupidest thing you've ever bought for a pet or person? I just ordered this for my iguana:
http://www.petedge.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=4536&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=0&iSubCat=0&iSubSubCat=0&iProductID=4536&AS=1

8.) How many people are you buying for? At least ten but it keeps growing.

9.) Are you or did or or would you tell your kids there is a Santa Clause? I think I would, but I would also tell them about all the different Santas in the world...maybe they would even have one unique unto them! Kids need majic.

10.) I know the answer to this already for most of you, but X-mas or Halloween? I'm actually torn...costumes, witches and skulls everywhere vs. presents. I think I'm going to start giving presents on Halloween. Then it would be perfect. I also try to send out Chinese New Year cards instead of X-mas. Does anyone know what year is coming up? Oooo. that gives me an idea for another topic....

I got it from World Market and everyone needs to go there NOW and get it too. (-: I put it on cream cheese, but you can also put it on chicken wings (stevie S). Also, someone told me in the store (as they were grabbing three bottles) that if you put it on Brie and bake it it is Oh so yummy. Personanly I'm dying to try it on cheesecake.

2.) Sundried Tomatoes and Garlic alouette Elegante gourmet cheese. (sorry, STevie, more cheese. Just skip to #3) I picked some up today on a whim and am ever so glad I was whimsy today. The flavor bursts in your mouth.

3.) Recipe:
ingrediants:
Veela Hair pasta (haha...HP humor)
Olive oil
garlic - just a bit
Zucchini
*Yellow squash, mushrooms, Tofu, eggplant - I added these to mine and it turned out yummy.

While pasta is cooking, in a seperate skillet cook zucchini (and other veggies if wanted) in olive oil. Let garlic sit in with the veggies for a little while until some of the flavor has spread out, then take out. When veggies are nice and cooked, poor oil into pasta and let it simmer for a couple of minutes. Put veggies onto another plate and put pasta (drained) into skillet. Stir for a couple of minutes. Take pasta out and mix with veggies. Try it. You will not be sorry. If it weren't for the second recommendation I would have eaten all of this in one sitting! I saw this recipe made on PBS! Made me want to call and give them money!

As you get in your car, think about it being swarmed by Zombies? I mean, it's inevitable that when the zombies come and if you make it to your car, they will swarm it. I have to say that every now and again I ponder this and think about the best possible course of action.

Say you are admiring a building one day, do you ever think about how it would hold up against Godzilla? Or just how tall it wouldn't seem if a dinosaur came walking around the corner? I know it would depend on the type of dinosaur, but for our purposes we'll use one of the big ones. Every now and agian I think about that and come to the realization that I'd be totally screwed.

How about when you are watching a plane fly over. Do you ever wonder how you would react to seeing a dragon gliding way up high through the sky? Would you be frightened? WOuld you be awestruck? Would you chase after it? Would you get your gun? I'm pretty sure I would be awestruck and have rivits of adrenilin coursing through my veins.
